The equipment was purchased under the “Life for Birds” project, implemented jointly with BSPB

EDG West purchased three broom-lifts under the “Life for the Birds” project. The technique will be used to carry out the specialized activities of the project, namely the securing of risky poles in order to protect the lives of endangered bird species and reduce emergency situations caused by birds and/or bird nests. The objectives of the project are to secure 5,600 poles, install 3,600 marking devices and 900 metal platforms for stork nests.

The project “Conservation of endangered species of birds by securing dangerous overhead power lines in protected areas of Natura 2000 in Western Bulgaria”, LIFE16 NAT/BG/000612, is implemented in specially protected areas of the Natura 2000 network and includes field studies, creation of a prototype for bird-safe poles, provision of safe nesting opportunities, installation of protective and marking facilities and other activities to protect the lives of birds vulnerable to the power distribution network.

The project is financed by the LIFE program of the European Commission.
