The company presented its Life program projects
EDG West participated in an international conference dedicated to the safety of the power distribution and power transmission network for birds. The event took place on October 15 and 16. The conference was organized by the Renewable grid initiative (RGI) – the largest association of representatives from the non-governmental sector and business from all over Europe. The purpose of the event was to unite the efforts of experts, scientific researchers and business representatives to achieve an environmentally friendly energy transition.
In the “Partnership for a Bird-Safe Energy Transition” conference. Non-governmental organizations, various energy distribution and transmission companies from 32 countries, as well as representatives of the European Commission took part – a total of 320 participants, of which 155 were present on site and 165 participated online.
EDG West presented at the event its bird protection policy and, in particular, the activities under the “Life for Birds” project, LIFE16 NAT/BG/000612. The greatest interest was caused by the model of a safe pole, which was developed under this project and is absolutely available to all electricity distribution companies. Communication activities were also part of the discussion topics as the company demonstrated different and innovative methods of engaging the public with bird conservation topics. A number of competitions, exhibitions, events and painting of electrical equipment were carried out within the project.
The company was represented at this forum with posters on the projects “Life for Birds”, LIFE16 NAT/BG/000612 and “Safe skies for Danube birds”, LIFE19 NAT/SK/001023. The two projects are implemented jointly with the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds.
