EDG West secured a total of 508 electric poles and installed 103 platforms for storks on the territory of the Kyustendil region for the period 2018 – 2023.
This became clear at an event in the city of Dupnitsa, where on March 28 the company presented its progress in the implementation of two projects.
They are co-financed under the LIFE program and implemented together with the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB).
“Bird collisions with electrical equipment often lead to power outages and inconvenience to residential consumers and businesses. At EDG West, we take extremely seriously our commitments to customers, but also the protection of natural diversity. Thanks to the efforts of our employees and our participation in both projects, we are making serious progress in achieving our goals,” said Krum Gledjarski, Head of the Quality Management Department at EDG West.
As part of the Life program, the company has committed to securing a total of 6,600 electric poles, installing 4,900 marking devices (diverters), and installing 900 stork nest platforms within the two projects.
To date, a total of 4,700 ladders have been secured, 3,000 diverters have been installed and nearly 940 stork platforms have been installed on the territory of Western Bulgaria.
For its overall environmental protection policy, the company was ranked first in the b2BMedia contest “The Greenest Companies in Bulgaria” for 2023.
