The 12th edition of the initiative took place
CEZ Distribution Bulgaria took part in an international conference on “Protection of birds in wetlands and prevention of bird collisions with power lines”. This is the 12th edition of the initiative to present activities related to the protection of bird life. It is organized by Hungarian governmental and non-governmental organizations and is held in order to exchange experiences between the participants in relation to biodiversity conservation. Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia, Slovakia, Romania and Croatia joined.
Krum Gledjarski, Head of Quality Management and Maria Georgieva, Head of Ecology at the company, presented to the participants the activities performed by CEZ Distribution within the Life for Birds project. The second project with a similar goal, in which the company participates – “Transnational protection of birds on the Danube” – was presented by the coordinating beneficiary – Raptor Protection of Slovakia.
“The exchange of experience is extremely valuable because we can get acquainted with good practices and their results and consider their application according to the specifics of our territory. At the same time, we presented our efforts to protect birds and our progress, which greatly impressed the participants and once again proved that we are on the right track, “said Maria Georgieva, who is also project manager of” Life for Birds “.
Both projects, in which CEZ Distribution implements activities for the protection of birds, aim to reduce the conflict of wild birds-power lines, minimize the risk of fires and accidents on the network and protect biodiversity.
